All I want for Christmas

The tinsel is tense,
The lights are unlit,
Ribbons unraveled,
I'm losing my wits!

Rumpled tissue paper,
Sales clerks who are rude,
All I want for Christmas
Is a new attitude.
    Taking time to cherish,
    Friends and family
    Near and far,
    I'll grab a moment or two today,
    And thank my lucky stars.

Makes me wanna holler
And spend my hard-earned dollar
Shopping on the internet
Where nastiness you rarely get
Compared to dealing with the mall
Where you're lucky to park at all
Or fighting traffic to head downtown
Seems too much hassle all around
Just beam me forward to December 26th
And help my Christmas mess to fix!
~~~~Great poem, as always, clever Anne.
Agree! The Internet is right,
For my holiday shopping day & night,
Feeling great 'til an e-mail from Amazon,
A book for my young nephew
Is at BACKORDER.com!!
The stress is off
The scales this year
And I really do hope
That you find your cheer
You've been through a lot
And I'll tip you my hat
If you forget the good things
Just turn on that tap!
Tina - December 10, 1999
A nice hot shower or the bath tub full of bubbles
Would do a lot to relieve holiday troubles,
Indeed I'm grateful and your poem is swell,
You're darn right I'm glad, we have a new well!
Anne(OH) -  December 10, 1999
Tis the Season to spread cheer,
All Beenie's far and near.
Cooking thoughts and trimming the tree,
We work for family all to see.
Shopping and running all day chores,
Each day is something more.
Don't forget the true meaning forelorn,
It is the day Jesus was born.
So I wish for you this day,
Hearts warmth along your way.
May God bless each of you,
With warm wishes and love so ever true.
Little Raven - December-5-99
Old Saint Nick
Footsteps down the path we go,
Closer the sound of Ho,Ho, Ho.
Tis the hour of the sleigh to ride,
A red nosed Reindeer by his side.
Fire dancing in the logs aglow,
The sound so clear of Ho, Ho, Ho.
Now to finish decking the halls,
For tonight we see Santa Claus.
Little Raven - December-14-99
A poem by me for my GardenTown friends.
As the night is darkening,
And winds howl with throaty rasp
While snow swirls 'round the valley,
Winter's come at last.
The stinging cold, the frosty panes
Announce the season's here.
Though barren is the lanscape,
My heart is filled with cheer.
For I have found warm feelings,
And love to feed the soul,
With many friends who I've met here
Who chase away the cold.
Like on the Sistine ceiling,
Where God's finger touches man,
We all reach out through time and space
And touch each other's hand.
Though it may be on a screen,
Just words typed, nothing more,
This magic place called GardenTown
Has opened up a door.
And as we pass through the portal,
And greet each other here
Winter's grasp is left outside
'Cause friends are gathered near.
So in this week of Christmas
I consider each of you a gift,
That I'll embrace within my heart,
As off to sleep I drift.
So though the night is darkening
The light is burning bright,
For each friend is a candle,
A warm beacon in the night.
The dream fades
I'm in my bed
still some sleep
sticking to my head
"Wait a minute"
to myself I say
I think it's, yes it's
Christmas Day!
I sneak the stairs
avoid the squeak
around the lintel
I do peek
It really happened!
Santa was here!
Tree lights in my head
Crystal clear
He ate the cookies
He drank the milk
He took the apples
for his elk
All the paper
on the boxes
All the toys
falling out of sockses
Every year
I feel reborn
When I sneak down
on Christmas morn
Home for the Holidays
At this time of year, I start to ponder
About those who leave for points way yonder,
Thinking home has gotten old,
Both place and people gotten cold,
How far they roam to find a spot
Where they think it's toasty hot;
A better, finer, friendlier place
That gives them closeness, gives them space
To have what they had thought they lost,
But very soon, they find the cost:
No matter what their criteria or test,
Sooner or later they find that *home* is best!
But home is where
The hearth doth lay
Or as some wise gardener
Once did say
A zone or two
Above my own
Would make a lovely
Garden grown.
Tina - December 21, 1999
When rained upon; unmitigated
As in thoughts, our hopes are slated
To someplace warm we'd happily go
Away from rain and sleet and snow
But then the airports; crowded and harried
Dash our hopes, and dreams are carried
To the day when home, and younder
Are sunny and warmer; of these we ponder
When drenched with rain and puddled in
Too close; too many, though wonderous, kin
Our wish would be warm sunny climes
Bur for this, we'll wait for warmer times
And snuggle close near decorated tree
With joy and hope and security
For anywhere you all may roam
With family you're always *home*
