“February” our theme for the day
An annual occurrence, come what may
To some it seems it’s winter still
With snow and ice and mucho chill
To some it’s spring but early days
With flowers budding through foggy haze
But soon we’ll hear the gardeners cheer
At least in the northern hemisphere!

Spring Fever

I don't regret craving your touch
I don't regret loving you
I don't regret wanting so much
I don't regret what I want to do

There is a longing, an understanding

A waiting, and hungering, impatient demanding
Each day accelerating, restless anticipating
Heart racing, mind reeling, words careening,

Spring Fever.

Elle/B.C. - February 11, 2000

A month of hearts and love,
February sprouts through the snow rise.
Longer days with the sun shinng bright,
Dreams of Spring fill your days.

Weather changes so fast each day,

From warmth to snow over again.
Plans of future gardens told,
Stolen minutes to walk the paths.

A month with days that sometimes grow,

The signs tempt us of future months.
The waiting two into the year,
One more to go when plants can grow.

Blowing wind
And sunny skies
Blustery cold
February lies!

It teases spring

Then yanks it back
This second month
Pulls us off track.

It's winter cold

promising snow
Then it's daffodils
Of golden glow.

Crocus peek

and iris hop
'Oh yes, it's spring"
then, 'no, it's not!'

When cold, dark January finally ceases
February dawns, light increases.
Something mental turns the bend
February starts the trend.

It's still cold and it's still winter

But the icy grip begins to splinter.
Here and there, spring reaches out
One warm day, one tiny sprout.

Each awaited, each enjoyed.

Fill gardening spirits, break winter's void.
The weeks are counted to work the ground
Seeds and flats and pots are found.

So although it's early, nothing really shakin'

We know that soon spring will be breakin'
So get those indoors chores complete
Soon will come the annual treat.

The joy, discovery, the wondrous thrill.

As springtime rains release foliage frill.
So fresh, so new, so simple, grand
The ageless gift from nature's hand.

The only thing that I can think to say,
To describe the joys of February,
Is that at least there is a way,
To rhyme the word with January.

The day for lover's comes along

In this month I know,
Cause north of the 49th parallel,
We're all buried under snow.

Why they chose this month,

I really cannot say,
Cause blizzards, freezing rain, and cold,
Are forecast every day.

It must have something to do,

With the fact that here, instead,
Of wearing silky lingerie,
We're into flannel and would rather stay in bed.

Gardeners Plightful Folly.....

Ooooh the rain was pouring down,

thoughts of drowning came around,
I had to venture out that day,
needing varnish for my paint to stay.
Charging ahead to HomeDepot,
that is where I had to go.
Went straight to paint supplies,
but of course what caught my eye,
a sale on gauwgious plants you see.
I fought the urge, Oh woe is me,
Here's the fact, here's the gist,
Of what I added to my list
A group of dahlia's, Oh so bright
Azaleas too, will fit just right!
Two green shrubs to smooth it out,
More Lavender, can't be without,
Iris with their tops so blue,
Won't they be the perfect hue?
So I did confess it right,
To my Heebee Love last night,
Pronouncing it a Valentine,
He said it would be just fine.
Hip Hurray, Hiddy-Hoe
Where will all these plants go?

Dig a hole and dig it deep
Plant your plants while thunderclouds weep
If you think you don't have room
Look again, there's grass there too!
Tina :)
I don't care if it is brief,
This month offers no relief.
It's still the winter, sad to say--
February, go away!
I'm so impatient for the spring,
And the blossoms it will bring.
No matter that there's an extra day--
February, go away!
It only suits two of my needs:
Valentines and starting seeds!
In my garden I long to play--
February, go away!

If there was a month to nix
I'd pick the one that has no kicks
It's long and boring
Without a brake
Take January, for heaven's sake!
             Tina  :D
January always brings
the birthday of Reverend ML King
and February always us presents
with a day off to honor two presidents
But March is long and cold and windy
With holidays remarkably stingy
Its really still winter but we want it to be spring
March is the month that really stings!
Kris (VA)
Though your folly is well said,
and I concur with rainy dread,
I must add a month of my own,
In August I do thus groan,
Too hot to think, I stand it not,
To cool off August I do plot....

February February
A month to enjoy
The last of the winter
cause snow is my toy
Shovelling snow
in a dirty big pile
Building it up
for a domicile

Shovel the lawn

Shovel the street
Shovel the roof
right under my feet

February February

the last month of snow
When it's all over
the garden will grow

Tamarack - February 11, 2000

February , February
what a strange spelling..
not much stranger then the
February we're feeling...
50 degree mornings and
80 degree afternoons..
dry hot days no signs of monsoons.....
Water bills are high
to keep plants alive
the tropicals (that are spose to die)
instead are on THRIVE~!!!!!

Plantlady - February 11, 2000

Hugs and roses,
Chocolates, too,
These are the gifts
I offer you.

Oh, Beenie Dudes

(Dudettes as well!),
I want to say
You're really swell.

Friendships so sweet,

Friendships so fine,
Please say you'll be
My Valentine!
